Jewelry Care.

General Care.

  • To keep your jewelry looking fresh and prevent the build-up of tarnish, it is best to store pieces in individual plastic bags or acid-free paper to keep them free of dust and moisture.

  • Perfume, hairspray, body lotions contain alcohol and other chemicals, which can cause tarnish and discoloration. Be sure to apply any cosmetics prior to putting on your jewelry.

  • Avoid swimming or showering while wearing your jewelry as salt water and chlorine can damage or discolor precious metals.

  • Always be happy when wearing your jewelry. Bad moods can cause a negative chemical reaction with precious metals.

Cleaning.

  • To clean your silver and gold jewelry I recommend using a silver-polishing bath or cloth, though a silver-polishing cloth can change the texture of the metal over time.

  • If your jewelry has a textured or matte finish, use the following method:

    • Line a glass or ceramic bowl with aluminum foil and place your jewelry into the bowl.

    • Sprinkle 1 tsp of baking soda over your jewelry and pour enough boiling water into the bowl to submerge your piece.

    • After a few minutes, carefully remove your jewelry (hot!) and rinse with soapy water.

    • Repeat as often as is needed .

    • (Do not use this method to clean jewelry that has an intentional patina or oxidized surface).
